Largs Thistle 1-2 Winton Rovers
Three defeats in a row now.
The last time Winton beat Thistle in this competition was 14th August 1993 when they won 3-1. Two days after that defeat we were beaten by Kilbirnie 3-1. Four days later we lost 10-0 to Beith. By the end of the season we had won the League and more importantly the Scottish Junior Cup. I can see history repeating itself.....except this time the League winners get to participate in the Scottish FA Cup the following season. I can see us getting to the final of that and beating St. Mirren (gaining revenge for the 9-0 friendly game). This would see us qualify for Europe the following season - by which time I'd have stopped taking Class A drugs.

Largs Thistle 1 (Alan Barnes)

Largs Thistle 0-4 Kilbirnie Ladeside
The season proper began tonight at home to Kilbirnie Ladeside. An Ardagh Glass League Cup, Section One game. 0-1 at half time and it just got worse.
First programme produced of the season for me - number 21 in total now. I haven't got the proper colour covers so just when with a plain yellow cover.

Nardinis Summer Tournament
The semi finals of the summer tournament sponsored by Nardinis saw St. Mirren X1 beat Benburb in the first match 3-0. The other semi final saw Largs Thistle also win 3-0 (with goals from Willie McClure-2, 1 a penalty and Ross McMillan). All the goals in both games were scored in the second half.
There was 114 paying punters on day 1 - so clearly outnumbered by the amount of players and officials from four teams.
Tomorrow Benburb will meet Greenock Juniors in the first match to decide the 3rd/4th place. This will kick off at 1pm.
The final between Largs Thistle and St. Mirren X1 will kick off at 3pm.

Some photos I took at Barrfields today

I took these pictures while waiting for the portacabin to arrive at the ground today (15th) - unfortunately it was damaged beyond repair whilst it was being lifted on to the lorry to transport it to Barrfields.

Attack of the killer midges
Below is footage of Largs Thistle being presented with the trophy for winning the Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division (2008-09) after the Evening Times Cup quarter final tie against Pollok (which Pollok won 2-0).
Who's got the biggest flag?
Had to laugh at a Thistle fan's Bebo page recently. A Kilbirnie fan was on boasting about how they had they biggest flag in Junior Football to which a Largs fans came back with that Largs also had a flag - which said "First Division Champions 2009".
